We want to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers among the laeast reached.
Operation Mobilization (OM) began in 1950 when Dorothea Clapp started praying for students at a nearby high school. Among those students was George Verwer, who later attended a rally led by Billy Graham, accepted Jesus Christ, and began missionary journeys with his friends. This marked the beginning of OM.
As of 2023, OM is an interdenominational international mission organization with more than 5,400 missionaries (including children) serving in 147 countries. OM is committed to mobilizing, training, and sending out missionaries dedicated to missions, equipping them to serve effectively in local contexts and to share the gospel of Christ.
The vision of OM, known as “VCJF (Vibrant Communities of Jesus Followers),” is to see vibrant communities of Jesus followers established among the least reached. This vision is not only for distant, unreached people groups across the world, but also for those around us—even here in Korea—who have yet to hear the gospel.
Mission is not something that begins far away, but here and now. It starts as we become true worshipers, walk daily with the Lord, and carry out the work He desires.
In addition, OM partners with GBA Ships (Gute Bücher für Alle, meaning “Good Books for All”), an international nonprofit organization that began in Germany. Through this partnership, OM sends many missionaries to serve on mission ships such as Logos Hope and Doulos Hope, which operate the world’s largest floating book fairs. These ships visit port cities around the globe, sharing knowledge, fostering cultural exchange, and offering help and hope.
Logos Hope is a larger vessel, while Doulos Hope is smaller, allowing each ship to visit different regions depending on geographical needs. The name Logos means “the Word of God,” while Doulos means “servant.” The Apostle Paul described himself as a “doulos” of Jesus Christ, and likewise, the Doulos Hope represents being a servant of God.
The ministry of GBA Ships and OM can be compared to a great voyage of love recorded across the world. This journey includes the footsteps of over 45 million visitors, the distribution of more than 70 million books of hope (the Bible), and partnerships with over 60,000 churches. These numbers testify that these ships are far more than vessels—they are instruments of deep and lasting transformation across nations.
Through this ministry, we come to experience that the gospel is not merely a theory, but a living and active reality.
